Title: building a 302
Post by: CMQuickcoupe on February 14, 2019, 04:06:52 AM
building a 302 for a customer and friend of mine, had a fake wanna be DZ block in it that someone restamped and screwed up the decks and it needed to be bored anyway so we ordered speed pro l2210af +.030 pistons for it,block is 0 decked and with the 64cc head and .039 gasket it will be 12.05-1 comp and i want to cut the piston for 11-1 compression, this piston in my catalog shows effective dome volume of 15.4cc and is .430 tall, does anyone know how much i can mill this piston down to reach my compression goal or do i need to be looking for a thicker head gasket? Thanks for any input yall can give

Seems to me I read on the TRW info specs that the tops can be cut 250 thou which I believe stated it would lower the cr from the intended 11:1 ratio for a .030" oversize L2210 AF piston down about a full point..
I have some that have been cut down - but exact amount - I'm not quite sure of though..
I'll try and find the actual printed copy of the spec sheet of the pistons I have somewhere and get back - if I manage to do so!

Hi, I have built a lot of 302 and I actually have 2 sets of pistons out being cut right now. If you want 11:1 leave .250 off the top of the piston and you'll be ok.

Are you running 0 decked blocks? do you know what the effective dome volume will be after milling .250 off? Thanks
