Julian date ink stamp on a 1969 drum brake lever - anyone know the font? (I want to get a stamp made)

Lloyd,
I'm pretty sure I used Century Schoolbook when I redid my brake lever. Here is a quick mock-up of what yours would look like in that font.

As Bob said, that is Century Schoolbook.
http://rubberstamps.net (not rubberstamps.com) has the font if you want to have a custom stamp made.

Bob and Mike, great intel, many thanks.

Lloyd was the pictured lever from the "Brooklyn" car, or a reference photo? Just wondered about the ink stamp date versus car build date.
-
Lloyd you into some crazy detail here. I love the pursuit, by you and Chick to get it right in a resto.
Here is a pic of mine from my 08C (late 69 car)
Not as neat and clearly stamped (could be 227?)

Here are photos of my cars rear brakes when I disassembled for cleaning a few years ago... 240 on one side and 241 on the other. (Are these 'date codes'??).. My car is a late 09C car...
-
Pretty obvious those are date codes Gary.
(good pics)

240 & 241 Dates.. Wouldn't that be about August 28th & 29th 1969? Danny
-
Yes it would... My rear was assembled 29 August ... Not sure when brakes were installed ??

Hi Tim, not photos of the Brooklyn car, actually a screen grab of Skip L's 21K mile car. As for dates, Skip's car is a Norwood 4th week of 1969 build and the Julian date on the brake lever of 258 decodes to September 15 so about a 2 week date gap. I'll have to post the dates from the Brooklyn car too.

Thanks for posting the photos and for the feedback, I've been working on a build thread over at TC however the knowledge base and dialog on CRG is impressive. My build will focus on a lot of finer details.

Thanks Gary, those levers and stamps are well preserved. On my Brooklyn Z and the former 10 10 survivor the lever date stamps were "hastily applied" and not at all crisp so I'll replicate that on my build.

Do we have any information on the sequence of building up the completed rear end?
-
I will have to take off the my other drum and see what the date code is. Hopefully the stamp is more clear on that side. I would assume like Garys the dates should be pretty close, so my other one may be around 227, which would be spot on for the when the rear end was stamped on mine BU 0815G2. (August 15th)
Likewise for Gary's : 241 would be the same date his was stamped * BU 0829G1 (August 29th)
Seems like the ink stamp, and metal stamp should be somewhat close. probably not many original cars to get data points on this though.

0424 on the rearend,,114-115. 04d(68) build date.

After soaking, one side was fine, the other faded, but legible. Painted with quantra white, inspection mark paint.looks good,,even being hid.

On the drums, if it means anything. I believe just part numbers on the cylinders.
-
Our 68 seemed to be 36 something so very late 1967 for our 01B car. It's still on as I cleaned carefully and used evaporust. Cleared it with satin lacquer to protect if I remember correctly.

Some simple and easily obtained paints to color match components I used.

Jano raised question about the brake cylinders....
.... I believe just part numbers on the cylinders.
I rebuilt my brake cylinders and have a photo of one of them, although I don't know the significance of the numbers. Some of these numbers might be a date code??
-
The "7/8 5464 079" is the standard script for these so nothing to do with date code Gary.

Thanks Chick! :) Learning is what being here is all about.... :)
