Title: NOS outer Door window fuzzies for 68 reveal moldings
Post by: Tinkerr on November 26, 2018, 07:57:11 PM
I'm looking for photos of 68 NOS/Service replacement outer fuzzies. I know what the originals look like, but service replacement parts weren't always IDENTICAL to assembly line parts. I bought(15yrs ago) a pair of door moldings with the fuzzies and all were supposed to be NOS. Although they fit well the backs, flat part that goes against the molding, don't look like the originals. I just bought Quarter moldings used, just because the fuzzies looked so nice. When the moldings arrived the fuzzie are the same design and style as the door(virtually identical)  fuzzies bought years ago. I just had quarter fuzzies made by a company in PA and I like the used ones better.

Thanks

Here is one picture I have showing differences of NOS on left compared to repro on right. My NOS (service replacements) pieces seemed to match originals with no issues but most of those pieces were purchased late 70's or early 80's.

The one I have, that I believed to be original, resembles the pic on the right with rounded edges and whats left of the fuzzie pinched between the rounded edges. This thing is nasty sand, grit, old paint, its been around a while. The Nos ones and the used quarter fuzzies I have strongly resemble your Nos/service replacements. The repos I had made resemble your repo pics, but were supposed to be made using original fuzzies as a template. I'm wondering if original assembly line fuzzies are what the repos are based on. The repo guys would be trying to replicate originals in appearance, but usually miss the fit part of the equation. The  service replacement match your pic on the left? Any thoughts, other pics, Thanks for the reply.

The replacement gm fuzzie's are just like the original. Compared a used set off my car to a gm set replacement dead on. That is what I will be using on my car. Repos not even close  from what I have seen. Also the part # is 9715110. Hope this helps.

If I can brave the cold tonight I'll retrieve my NOS set from the deep freeze garage and take a few pics. My old bones have a hard time adjusting, so give me a bit -

Laugh now, DW - you'll be there in 50 years or so !

These things are tough to get a decent pic of, but hopefully they show enough detail. The "fuzzy" material is pretty coarse, almost like a loop pile. You can see from the end-on shot that the cross section is round, not flat. The tabs on the back are quite small, very bendable.
No chrome or stainless bead like the '69's, obviously.

Regards,
Steve

The fuzzies I have look like the ones Z28z11 posted so I'm going with I lucked out and got a set of NOS quarter fuzzies on used trim pieces. I tried to post some pics, but got so frustrated I gave up.

Thanks for the responses.
