I'm wondering if this is common or why a car built would have a POP date 17 months later. Could the car have been used at a dealership and then sold later? Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks

It could be the SECOND owner POP? It would have been sent in the mail for the new owner or the dealership handling the warranty/transfer etc. to affix in the back of the book. They cut the original one out and trash it. It would have NO dynotab colored tape, just a metal plate. BOTH of my cars have second owner POP's. I guess it could be the 3rd 4th or whatever, if it sold that many times. But no tape means not original owner, I THINK. I am still learning. See picture of directions to do this change over. Look at me, thinking I know what I'm talking about ;) .. Danny

Factory Warranty was transferable to second owner on payment of an admin fee, and a second P-o-P was issued (as Danny said), so I would expect that's the case in this example.

Thanks that makes perfect sense.
This one has the Dymo tape on the plate but did come mailed to her in an envelope from the selling dealer. They could have created/ordered a whole new warranty booklet. Odd that if it was issued to her in 1968 the booklet is a first edition #3914164 booklet.
So the date on the POP just reflects when she purchased the car. Someone else owned it for that period from build to June 1968.

If it has the tape on it, it's an original one, not the warranty version.
17 months is huge. Even if it was a demo, they would have sold it at the end of the year.

In a couple of instances, I've seen NEW cars sit on lots for nearly 2 yrs before being sold...
The first time was a 1970 Superbird almost 2 yrs before sold... and the last time in '76 Cosworth Vegas (local dealer kept 2 or 3 of them for well over a year before finally cutting the price enough to sell them)..

You have 2 second owner POP's? Can you post them for all to see?
I believe you can tell if it is 2nd or 3rd or 4th owner POP by the number under the bowtie.
Not sure I learned that on this site because there is very little information published in the POP section about second owner and Canadian POP's.
It may be known info and the CRG just hasn't expanded the information here yet.
