May have been discussed already searched around and couldn't find anything. What RPM range did the cross ram equipped Camaros see on the typical track. Just curious. Thanks

There will be others that can answer better but my guess would be that most of the time they would want to be between 3500 and 7500.

I was thinking higher on the low side with a four speed they would have wanted to keep up in the power range. Just a guess haven't ever done that type of racing.

They did not typically run more than 7,200rpm back in the day and would have run best in the 4,000 to 7,000 range. Remember they did not allow roller cams, roller rockers, or stud girdles and did not have the modern cam profiles we have today. Also, they had to run for 3 hours minimum (typically) plus Sebring and Daytona were 12 and 24 hours respectively.

Jon were there any modifications allowed, head porting, compression, etc? I've read that top teams made power in the 450 range, good #'s for stock stuff.

Head porting, higher compression, screw-in studs and guide plates were allowed. By 1971 you could also use aftermarket intake manifolds but the cross ram was outlawed beginning in 1970. You had to have a single 4-bbl. Yes, the 450hp figure is in the correct ballpark for back then.
