I just cleaned my BB valve covers. They are decent driver quality but the factory chrome was poor. In the grooves at the bolt holes there is very little chrome, platers call it a shadow where it does not plat correctly because of the shape. I used paper towels soaked in white vinegar . Laid them in place about a day or two and it removed almost all traces of the rust down to bare metal. I scrubbed it with cleaner and a stiff brush. Then I dabbed a little aluminum paint where it was bare and blended it and they don't look too bad. Guess I will see how long to lasts.

If you use the camera on your phone, just email it to yourself. Some (all?) phones let you choose the file size when you send it, so there's no need to resize. No cables or cards to connect, either. Just a suggestion -

Thanks Steve, but I was born in the last century. I don't text and I don't have a phone that I can email from. AT least not that I know of. Just trying to get you guys to try a little vinegar on a piece of semi-bad chrome. It really does work and it's cheap. I use it to clean radiators too. Last one I did was on a 1924 of my buddies. Put it in for about a week and drove it just about every day. Yucky stuff came out.
