While searching about green paint on the distributor, I ran across this post.

That's the ID stripe that Delco put on to help the engine plant ID the distributor. The colors are listed in the Colvin's CBTN.

What is Colvin's CBTN?  I have a couple '63 Corvette distributors and several 1111249 Camaro 327-275 hp distributors.  They all have the green spray painted stripe, and I'd like a little more information on it. Thanks!

Looking at my 65-69 book, green is correct for the 249.  The color codes (Colvins) are shown in the notes column for each distributor by model year.  Not all have a code, so may be unknown since they also have a code for no paint.  It also says the color to be used was called out on the Delco Remy blueprints and shows a couple examples.

Bryon and Pete,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge on Chevrolet by the numbers. Thanks also for letting me know that green is correct for the "249" distributors. Again, many thanks!
