its a burnished brown black standard interior car .... Thanks guys!
-
It is in the CRG db, data as of June 2002.
-
Can you tell me who owns the car & where it is located?? my Dad would love to talk to the owner. Thanks
-
Umm, that car wouldn't happen to be something special would it?
What dealer did he buy it at?
Car was owned by a friend of a friend of mine. I don't have contact info and am not sure he still owns it, but I'll find out.
-
the car was bought at Sypolt chevrolet in East Canton Ohio. yes the car is VERY special..
-
Does your dad still have any of the factory paperwork on the car?
It sounded like the car still has a lot of its original parts, btw.
-
My dad sold the protecto plate about 5 years ago.. all he has now is a paper with the vin # and some old pics... the guy the bought the protecto plate was going to make one.. i hope thats not the one ur talking about i'd like to find the REAL one my dad bought new not some clone
-
Nope, this car is the real one. Bought out of OH in about 86.
-
Do you know where the car is located now??? my dad heard it was painted red he'd like to talk to the owner of it now. thanks again for your help !!!
-
I think you 2 have us all in suspense. I've been waiting for somebody to say what is so special about thar car.
-
I'll second that. What are the special aspects to this car??
-
this 69 camaro was my dads first new car he ever bought. I just bought a 69 Z & it made him bring out his pics & some CRAZY stories i'd like to find it for him..
-
I'm trying to find/contact the current owner. The current owner knew it was a COPO when he bought it back in 86.
-
Shoot I thought it was because it was burnished brown and standard black interior :)
-
None of my business, but I will ask anyway (sorry)... I am curious to know what a real COPO POP sold for, especially to someone who was going to make a clone. Care to share the amount?
-
i'll have to ask my dad what he sold the pop for.. it sure is a COPO. when my dad bought it the stock exhaust lasted for about 3 months he sold the stock exhaust to the dealer that was installed on a 69 Z.. then headers with no smog pump a SUN tach.. non tach factory car also has a 120 speedo from day one my dad put a set of slapper bars & a hurst T handle still wondering if any of that is on it? the stock wheels and dog dish hubs went on a 64 chevy impala & a set of mags went on the COPO.. Keep me posted

1969camaroguy I have information about your Father's COPO. Call 630-377-1222

With only 13 total posts and 7 of them in this post from the OP & all from 2007, I think it will take some digging to find this guy. Kurt probably has the only contact.
-
But another cool story. I would like to see some of those vintage pics.
Also purchase price of the POP wasn't said, but is there a clone of the car out there somewhere?
-
No clone that I am aware of. The story as I have it, is that there was another similar Burnished Brown COPO in that geographical proximity and the guy who owned that other COPO, heard about this Original Owner and contacted him. They discussed the car and thought it was the same COPO. The original owner let him know that he had the POP and gave it to the guy with the other COPO. When he got it he realized it was a different COPO and hence the search for the car. The car left Ohio and has been in the Chicago land area since appox 1989.

Status update. I was able to find a son of the original owner. Do not yet know if he is the one who posted here. He has informed me that he with get me in touch with his father, who is the original owner of this COPO. I think it’s kool that on the 50th Anniversary of these cars that the original owner and car might be reunited. I have extended an invitation to meet at MCACN XI as the COPO will be in the Day 2 display.
