Help, I found a 69 Camaro that I'm thinking about buying and I am having trouble decoding the cowl tag. I have found some info on it, it has what I believe is called a mirror cowl tag. The vin # is 12437KC100xxx. It may be fairly rare from what I learned the K code was actually a 1970 code, but was used on some very late 1969 Camaros. The rest of the codes are: TR 718 BDY and PNT are 926-50521. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, it has front disc brakes and a 12 bolt rear. Thanks.

Have you read THIS (http://www.camaros.org/foreign.shtml#caracas)?

Welcome Motorhead3 - good to see your first post.
Try to tell us more when you can. Sounds like an interesting car.

Not sure why you wouldn't include the complete VIN. I presume this is 12437KC100126?
As an aside, I just saw a tag for a 70 Caracas Camaro - correctly using the K date. :)

To Kurt S. I really didn't think that it was necessary to list the entire vin#, but out of all the possible combinations of vin numbers, how did you guess the last 3 digits as 126? Do you know this car? I found out that the 718 interior code is med red, but I still haven't found out what the 926-50521 is. Any help? Thanks

I know a little about the car, from about 10 years ago. Had/has it's original engine. Be real curious if you ever get the axle code.
I don't know what color that paint code is, sorry.

Kurt S - It has no engine or trans now. I'll try to see if I can get the rear code for you. So what do you know about the car from 10 years ago, I would be very curious to know? Did you own it, work on it or know the owner? Any thoughts on where I could find out about the paint code? I believe it's a Dupont paint code. Would GM have records of it? Thanks, Jim

I think I was emailing a prior owner back in 09.
It had the original L65 350 in it, T0602HD.
I'd try Dupont or PPG and see if either can cross reference the code. It should also be visible in the door jambs and the floors....
