Title: hose clamps
Post by: pjbizjak on May 31, 2018, 12:02:47 AM
I'm in the process of 'dressing up my newly self rebuilt 68 302 and I would like to know what type of hose clamps go where, any help would be appreciated, can't rely on the internet except for CRG.

Thanks all

If you have an AIM, it will show where clamps go and what clamp is needed
Water hoses use tower type clamps. Not sure on the sb, but bb has non tower type clamps (2), on the water pump bypass. Other hoses like power brake booster, fuel lines and off use various spring ring type clamps that are color coded as to size. If you care to PM me, there is a guy in Oklahoma, that I can provide a name,  that will fix you up with a set of clamps you need at a reasonable price unless you need all dated correctly?

Waterneck should be silver.

I will go out on a limb here and note the bypass can have two styles depending on the dating of the motor.
I believe that early and early mid motors had side style clamps like the 67 302 did.

not sure if this is one is one of your questions.

The smaller spring clamps used several places (brake booster, fuel pump, etc.) have squared off ears, not rounded as what comes in kits. Incorrect ones easily spotted.

You'll know the difference if you catch a finger on a real clamp with the square ears :)

Pete, just looked again and a few things you might want to check on. 1. the top pass side water pump bolt should be a zinc rascal as that is where your negative battery cable attaches. 2. pic is hard to view due to clarity but there are two small brackets attached via the oil pan screws for holding the positive cable and they should be orange. Your picture seems to indicate they are black. A more detailed picture of the right and left side can assist with information.
Looking good!

The 2 upper water pump mounting bolts should be hex studs. The driver side is for mounting the outer alternator bracket & the passenger side is for the battery ground.....Joe
