Title: 1969 Small Block Smog Pump Cradle
Post by: ZLP955 on May 24, 2018, 12:31:50 PM
I've been looking for an assembly-line correct smog pump cradle (the lower bracket) for a '69 small block.
Several I've looked at have either one or two small holes in the main flat part of the bracket, directly under where the long bolt passes through the pump casing - similar to the attached reference picture. One bracket I looked at had no holes, but the captive nut was hex rather than square, so I suspected it was a reproduction or service replacement.
I have been told that the correct-for '69 brackets were unique to that year, and only had one hole, but can't find any confirmation of that.
Can anyone confirm if an assembly-line correct bracket should have any additional holes as described,  and if so, one or two? or if there are any other markings or features to look out for? Thanks!

OK Tim when I got my early 10B L.A. car all the smog was in a box, I have since installed it on the car. I looked at the bracket just now for you. Mine has a hex head captive nut. the bottom of my bracket has no holes, and at the edge of the flat part there is a slight extension of just the flat portion of about an 1/16th of an inch. Sorry no pics yet. Let me see if i can find a better image for you, of what I am talking about.

I have been looking for about 10 minitues, and I saw another survivor car with the same style as mine, but I had to really zoom in to see it. I have noticed there are MANY MANY brackets out there, all claiming to be original. Some with square, and some with hex fixed nut. Some CRG guy here I would think would have one.

. I am guessing there were multiple vendors of this bracket, so it is going to appear a little different from one to another.

Guess I saw this title (week ago)earlier, but never read the post. My car is a Norwood, but I have it’s oe assembly bracket (March 69 car) and I  promise I will look at this bracket and report back,  Tim.

Thanks Bentley, that'd be a great reference - right timeframe too, my car is early April!

Inscription on part says, "69 sb smog". My car is a very late 3E car with many April dated components.

Mine looks just like the one Bentley posted, except the small protrusion on the diagnol is on the other side. No holes, and hex fixed nut.

Interesting - maybe different suppliers?
Great pictures thanks Bentley!
