Title: Smog Pump Spacer Usage
Post by: ZLP955 on May 19, 2018, 07:23:49 AM
Did any '69 models use a spacer between the smog pump pulley and the white fan, or did all pulleys bolt right up to the fan? I've seen the spacers used on Corvette and others, but so far, not on a first-gen. Thanks!

Thanks Kurt, I read that report many times but didn't see any reference to spacers.
The bolts I bought to mount the pulley are too long and I wondered if a spacer was required. Looks like I need shorter bolts then.

I have some original bolts, I try to find and measure them...

Hey Tim. Mine are 1/2" long & use lock washers. Let's see what Kurt says.....Joe

Short ones are indeed 1/2" length under the head (pictured), the longer ones fit the spacer equipped models (this particular spacer came
off a '68 dated pump). No '69 I have ever seem came with the spacer, this one came off a complete '68 assembly pump.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks for the pictures - the bolts I bought are exactly like the loose one next to the spacer in Steve's photo - longer and with an unthreaded section of shank. Good to see the correct short ones, so at least I know what I need now.
