My original DZ Carb (#3923289 List 4053) has the sight plug threads stripped on the rear float bowl. I've tried to secure it with teflon tape in an attempt to try and tighten it up, but it still weeps a bit. In the CRG Report on carburetors it identifies the original (4053 carburetor) as being a Holley 4150. So I'm assuming that a rear float bowl for a 4150 is interchangeable with the original 4053 carburetor? Is that correct?
Holley sells a replacement float bowl for a 4150 under their part number 134-102. I spoke with their tech's and they said it "should" work. However, I didn't want to order it on "should work" basis. Has anyone used the Holley 134-102 float bowl on their DZ carb?

Yes it will work. Their tech should know that. Now I can not tell you if it will have the correct script on the bowl but functionally it'll be fine.

Some float bowls are vented and some aren't. I'd suggest getting in touch with Eric at www.vintagemusclecarparts.com he knows these carbs inside out and will be able to offer good advice - may even have what you need.

Or Eric may be able to just repair your original part.

Yup I could have been clearer but by 'may have what you need' meant a solution to fix the stripped threads, or a correct vent bowl.
Also in re-reading the OP's question I missed that it was particularly the rear bowl - I *think* only front bowls were vented where required, but anyway the recommendation for Eric still stands. He's very knowledgeable and does fantastic work - restored a 4053 for me and it was so perfectly done that I wondered if it deserved to be in an illuminated display cabinet rather than hidden under an air cleaner!

Thanks to all for the responses and suggestions. Vintage Muscle Car Parts looks like a good resource. I've got a couple of calls in to several folks on locating a good used bowl. I heard the replacement Holly units aren't made like the old stuff. However it's good to know that 4150 parts will work if I get in a pinch. With all of the Holley carbs that were manufactured over the years, I'm amazed that Holley didn't offer a kit with a small jig, drill & tap to re-drill the bowl and retrofit it with a larger screw. I can't be the first to have this problem. Thanks again guy's for all of the help.

I have a 1971 Dated List 4815 - 1967 Z28 and L78 service replacement - all original, but it has the same issue.

Had Eric do the 4555 on my 70. The worst thing is that the air cleaners drop so low you can't see the beautiful work. Thinking about putting tiny mirrors on the intake to look underneath like at the car shows to look underneath the car!

This may be a little late for posting but I have some original bowls and you can have 1 just pay the shipping. I use Harold Demes for all my carb work and personally I think he is the best there is. So if you still need 1 send me a message .

Thank you for the offer. I heard back from one guy (who didn't have any). I'm waiting for a response from #2 and #3. I'll let you know how things turn out.
