Title: Adding a dash clock to a ‘69
Post by: bheston on April 12, 2018, 09:33:23 AM
Nothing turned up in a search but I was wondering if anyone has added a center dash clock to a 69?  This car does not have a clock nor was it born with one.  Will the plastic dash surround need replaced or does the center Camaro “plug” come out?

You have to cut (dremel) the grooved "camaro" section out, then use a clock only wiring harness.  you need the clock lens panel and upper/lower clips & screws to mount it.

While the Dremel would be ideal, I did it using a hacksaw blade starting with drilling 2, 1/2 in. holes in opposing corners. I have also used a saws all. Finishing off with files. It helps to have a template  I made one from the original dash. Since you do not have an old dash, I could measure and provide dimensions. I will do a search 1st to see if that information is already available.

Easy addition. I found a flat blade tip on a soldering gun worked well to cut (melt) the opening as it is not messy at all and no danger of cracking anything.  The two side clock mounting clips can be difficult to find but the rest is easy.  Harness is simple.

Classic Industries has the clips part # HC293 18.00.

Nope.  Those are clips for the top of the clock bezel and are easy to get.  The clock mounts on the sides with 2 clip-on studs with nuts.  THOSE are hard to get.

Edit: Heartbeat city seems to have something close and functional in the clock kit they offer. Uses screws rather than a stud/nut setup.

My replacement clock came with template for cutting out the dash.
