Title: Looking for my high school 69
Post by: BRG Z28 on April 08, 2018, 04:40:36 AM
I am looking for my high school 69. The car is a original SS/RS 396 4-speed hugger orange, black vinyl top, conforweeve interor, tach gauges, enduro bumper, 68 rear spoiler and a cowl hood. The car was extremely clean and with original interior and and metal. The VIN is 124379N514458. The car came from the Cleveland, Ohio area and I was told it may be in Tennessee or Kentucky. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck. Even if you find it, realize the current owner may not want to sell.

I found my high school car. It’s been sitting in storage for years but the owner won’t sell it.

I've met all 8 previous owners of my Z/28 that I bought in 1976. One guy who had it when we were in high school wants it back so he has something for his son to inherit. He had it for 7 months. I've had it for 42 years. I think he need to dig deeper into his sock drawer. He knows where the car is whenever he wants to come look at it. Good luck. Maybe the owner won't be a butt like me :) ...Joe

That's a familiar story. I know of a guy that has flipped dozens of 1st Gens shortly after relentlessly pestering previous owners.

"I really hate to sell it but my daughter is starting college soon"

By now he must have put six kids through med school.

Don't take the bait.

What was it in 76? Thats when Dad bought the Z. Memory 1, 9 years old, went to look at it with him. (Got it from him in 89) Over the years I have met everybody who had any connection to it. Same here Joe, I may also be a butt with a steep price. And 42 years of memories, lol.

Seriously, if it's still around, shouldn't take that much detective work to track it down. But...it will take some effort. Everybody has been able to find me over the years. Multi times..

What year was that when you owned this car?

It hasn't been registered since 1995 as far as I can tell.
