Title: Delco Booster
Post by: hrlyfxdl on March 15, 2018, 01:30:01 PM
Sorry if this has been covered, but read through many threads to find this answer. On the Delco boosters, was Delco Moraine stamped into all of them? Or were there some that were OEM boosters without the logo. I have a booster on my car, dated in April on one tab and 9079 on the other tab, but no logo on the booster front. So don't know if this is correct. Thanks for your input...

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I don't see a 'DELCO' stamped into my booster (original '69 disk brake booster) on a quick look...  Where are you expecting to see a Delco stamp??   I'd say you have the correct Booster for a '68 with drum brakes...

Hi Gary,
I see them on the upper right side of the booster, when you're looking at the booster from the front of the car. I've also read where they've been upside down as well.

Delco stamped can be very faint and I have seen a few (not many) that can not be seen.  Stamp is located straight down below the vacuum check valve and upside down.

Sometimes they are so faint it helps to take a flashlight and hold it at an angle to where it ought to be and then you can see it.

Thanks Darrell,

I don't know if I've 'noticed' this logo before (or not), but if I have, I'd forgotten... :)   Going back to my photos, I was able to zoom in and find the logo (or residue of it).. exactly where you said it would be.

Thanks Darrel and everyone,
I'll go and look closer this weekend when I'm up working on my car. Hope all is well.

1967 and 1968 didn't have the logo. That was a 1969 only thing.

Thanks for the info Ed. I was really confused on what I was seeing in different posts with pics, but couldn't find an answer addressing that topic. Much appreciated.

Yikes, Gary! Is that your check valve on your Camaro? I thought your car was all untouched and/or correct ( even the parts you have replaced)?

That check valve is the 'new one' installed by Steve Grigori when he rebuilt my booster (he returned the original 'yellowed' one to me and I still have it)  :)

Has there been any documented 1969 Delco 9204 boosters with the logo on the upper right ?......I have a original 9204 with the delco logo on the upper right.....

The only ones I have seen with it on the upper right and not upside down, have been reproduction units. Not to say there could be an original like yours, I just haven't seen one.

(Gary, Good thing you have that original check valve, I think Bentley was ready to give you a CRG fine! )

Bentley has always got a good eye out for us... :)

you think Bentley was 'looking out for us'??  :)   I thought he was poking at my car...  :)

If memory serves he had a decent amount of time involved in research on that thread on booster valves.

I would say Bentley knows how much of stickler some of us are, and wants to make sure we are in the know, if something isn't quite correct.

He is just making sure we're on top of our game... ;D

I have a booster that I got for parts that has the stamp at 1 o clock. The guy has parted out a mess of cars and said it was an original, already had been restored. He thought in the spring of 69 there was a run of boosters with stamps in this area. I should see if the fonts compare to the original one on the Z.
