Title: Help Decoding Canadian Sold 1967 Camaro
Post by: 67RSSS396 - Canada on March 02, 2018, 04:21:59 AM
Hi,

Newbie to this forum but have enjoyed reading CRG’s material for a while now.  Anyhow, does anyone have any suggestions on what other numbers I can document on my Canadian sold 67 Camaro?  I already have the information from Vintage Vehicle Services Inc. but wanted to document as much as possible.  If you do have suggestions, could you also please supply the link for decoding the number(s)?  To date, I have decoded the following:

•   VIN
•   Cowl Tag
•   Engine
      o   Engine Stamp
      o   Block Casting Number
      o   Head Casting
      o   Head Date Code
      o   Intake
      o   Carburetor  Parts #
      o   Exhaust Manifold
•   Drivetrain
        o   Transmission Code
        o   Main Case Transmission Casting
        o   Extension Transmission Housing
o   Axle Stamp, Casting Number, Casting Date, Test Marks
•   GM of Canada option sheet from Vintage Vehicle Services Inc.

Anything else???

Depends on how far you want to go... almost every part of the car has some form of cast or stamped code telling parts manufacturer and date, and some parts more than that... ie. part number.

You can go crazy with numbers & dates. I have a list started for my 69 with 45 items so far. I expect to add to my list during restoration...Joe

I guess start with the larger items like body panels and engine parts
