I've got a 69 SS Camaro vin# 124379N551228 It was a deported car, I've had this car in my passion for almost 40 years, I bought the car in 1979, I have since learned that the gauges were added after the car was bought new, but before I bought it, I'm in the middle of a restoration, that has been on going very long, It is probably 80% done, frame off redo. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas if any information could be found on this car, I paid and had a research done with Canada, no luck. Any suggestions would be welcome. Here's the trim tag.

Export trim tag; is there any other tag or plate attached to the car? Does it have the VIN in the usual place on the dash top, or is that plate blank with an alternate VIN plate elsewhere? What country is the car in, or believed first sold in?
-
no other trim tag anywhere, The VIN# is in the original place dash top, The car is in Missouri, I've owned it since 79, And have no idea where it was exported to, my guess sold over seas, then brought back to the states, Maybe a military guy?? I'm just guessing at this point
-
So it was 'exported' out of the US, then 'imported' back into the US later...? :)
"Deported' makes it sound as if it was *forced* to leave the country... :)
-
Yes, Poor choice of words, it was an exported car, I'm sorry
-
"deported" ... watching the state of the union....LOL
Just funny is all.. I wonder if a NCRS report would tell anything other than export car?

VIN is in the range that NCRS has nothing on..... 1969 Camaro 9N508855 to 9N587275.

:) It's all good! We all make mistakes, and as for 'word' mistakes, as I get older I'm getting worse and worse! :)
- and I figured if the car WAS deported (for runs in the paint, etc... :) I would learn something when you explained it! :) (I'm just kidding of course!)... if runs were reason for 'auto deportation', there would have been a lot of them! :)
We'd all like to learn more about your car.. with photos please.. :)

Yes we all use an incorrect word from time to time. No big deal.

I'm trying to post some pictures, but its always telling me that there too big, Believe me there are NO Run in the paint, Its black, so I had to find someone who was good, this thing is laser straight, you couldn't find a flaw anywhere, in the paint........ I'm getting excited to get it finished...... Been a very long project.

Exports didn't have the rest of the trim tag wordage stamped?

Do a google search for 'Light Image Resizer' and download it (Free).. It works easy and great and you can 'tune' the parameters to get the image (file) size you need for posting, and with negligible impact on image quality. Reduce your FILE size to below 200Kb and it will post...

That is correct Mike S, The bottom on the trim tag is blank on a 69 exported car
