Was a capacitor used on the coil bracket in 1969? I am sure it wasn't used on AM radios, but on FM radios did they get one on the coil bracket along with the blower motor capacitor? Seems to me that '70 cars had them on the bracket, but I thought that was due to the windshield antenna. Can someone clarify this for me? Anyone with an original '69 Camaro with FM radio that can check for me? Thanks, Warren

Yes, all 69 Camaros got the coil capacitor. If you ordered the AM/FM, you also received 2 more capacitors, one by the heater box and one by the horn relay if my memory serves.

Voltage regulator is where you are thinking. Correct area. Attached to tab on the back side of the VR. Probably to dampen the switching action of the relay inside the VR to min radio interference (RF).

I have never seen one on a '69 Camaro that came from the factory with AM radio. Not sure if any '69 Camaro's got the coil bracket capacitor that is why I am inquiring about the FM radio. All AM, along with the AM-FM cars came with the voltage regulator capacitor.
If you have AM-FM you have an added capacitor between the blower motor wiring and the blower motor. Just want to know if anyone here has an original car with factory AM-FM to see if there is one attached to the coil bracket.
I parted about fifteen '69 Camaros in the late seventies and early eighties and have coil brackets left over from then that do not have any threaded coil bracket holes.
There must be owners on this site that have original AM cars that can verify they do not have the coil bracket capacitor to clear this matter up.

Just checked 68 & 69 assembly manuals 68 shows capacitor 69 does not show one. Both 68's in our garage have capacitor on coil bracket one am car one am/fm car. Hopefully some 69 owners will chime in to help you out.

Both my 67's with an AM radio have it on the coil bracket and VR. I wonder if in 69 it was decided it wasn't needed. Sort of like the anti-static barbed rings in the front spindle hub covers used in 67 and later discontinued.

The '67-'68 Camaro's had the capacitor on the coil bracket and if the they had the AM-FM upgrade they received the extra capacitor on the blower motor.
Because the '69 Camaro had the capacitor moved to the voltage regulator and still has the extra capacitor on the blower motor for AM-FM, I am convinced that there were no extra capacitors used.
The radio installation instructions for '69 Camaro's and the assembly manual does not show a capacitor on the coil bracket. This leads me to believe there were no capacitors used on the '69 Camaro coil bracket.
The '298 coil was used on the flat hood Z28 with the standard coil bracket. The '270 coil was used with the angled bracket to clear the ducted hood air cleaner base on the Z/28.

If the car was a radio delete car did it still get the capacitor at the voltage regulator?

67 & 68s with a radio had a cap on the VR.
