Title: CORRECT 1967 Camaro Hoods Question
Post by: AustinCraig on January 24, 2018, 06:55:51 PM
Greetings all,I looked for pics of Hoods in the website and did not find what I was looking for.I Know(?)that the STOCK,STANDARD FLAT hoods on 1967-69 have to be Different somehow from year to year. Are there any pics of any/all VISUAL DIFFERENCES in each year Hoods that would tell us all EXACTLY what year hoods we had on our cars? When replacing a hood on a car we are rebuilding, any Year hood will fit ANY year car,1967-69.But if we want EXACTLY Correct hoods on our project, how do we POSITIVELY I.D. the CORRECT Hood for our year car?Date Codes somewhere?Whats the Scoop? Thanks

Apparently the 'flat hoods' are the same for all three years (at least I've never seen any distinction made).  There were 'date codes' utilized, but AFAIK all years only had the 'week' of production (at least this is correct for '69 hoods).  If there's a distinction for 'year' of the flat hoods, I haven't seen it discussed here on CRG the last 10 yrs...

Hopefully someone with an original '67 can provide a better response than mine.

Here is what the CRG data base has to say about Hoods...

I only know of SS hoods being different between 67 & 68/69 (67 had no drain holes in the lower part of the hood frame).

^ recall when you first posted those pics Ed - went out and checked both the factory flat hood on my car, and a spare that I got from a guy that swore it was originally on a '68 - found both had the alignment holes and extra tabs and were both from '69 MY.....

There was a guy called John Tinberg in Illinois that made a limited run of reproductions for 67-69 Camaros several years ago - maybe 8-10? They were made from an original Lakewood unit and were said to be dead-on accurate. I believe they were marketed through Nickey in Chicago, sold for around $600 at the time. You might get a contact number for him from Stefano at Nickey.....
Otherwise, they pop up infrequently on ebay, CL and on other forum classifieds, but have to be super-quick to score. And most main bars/hoops are the same, just the feet plates vary, so you have to know what the Camaro version should look like.
