Title: Englishtown ends drag racing....
Post by: 69Z28-RS on January 17, 2018, 02:51:56 PM
I've never been there, but I've heard so much about it over the years from many people.  I think there are a few here on CRG who have mentioned racing there...

Reduce their liability as in lower insurance costs - could be one reason, I'm only speculating.

I've no idea either, but noise abatement (and local homes/etc), is the main reason many dragstrips have closed...

Yes, I have been going to the swap meet there for decades. There were not many homes close to the track.  Now in the last couple of years the amount of new tract homes being built really close to track has skyrocketed.  Then when they move in, they start complaining about the noise. I guess they did not look around when they they were home shopping :)  But now the owners are going to put an outdoor concert venue on the track. How can someone complain about music then? :D
