Here is some info for the data base
the console clock which is OE and unrestored is

Do not know why 2 part numbers ???

Is one on the clock itself and the other on the housing?

Those are the patent numbers not the part numbers! Here is what it says on a clock I saved from the "crusher" last month:
GENERAL TIME CORPORATION
PRECISION PRODUCTS & PARTS DIV.
SALES OFFICE - DEARBORN, MICHIGAN
PATENTED U.S.A.
2542430
2858029
OTHERS PENDING
MADE IN U.S.A.
This is stamped in the back of the clock itself in this exact order. There is also a red ink date code that looks like this:
D JAN 20 1968
I pulled this out of a 05D Los Angeles built RallySport.
The part number cast into the metal housing in which the clock is placed is 3921411 with an "E" and symbol (diamond with three circles) stamped after it. There is also some kind of "clock" looking symbol cast in front of the part number.
Frank, are you sure the last number on the second patent number is a "8" and not a "9" like mine. I'm sure mine is a "9", it is very clear. Hope all this helps!

All the info I provided is stamped (recessed) into the metal housing of the clock. The only part that is stamped in red ink is the date. It looks like this: D JAN 20 1968

That is it Paul-on closer look mine is stamped the same

Very cool! 8) I'm glad they're the same (patent numbers included). Yes, mine works. I pick it up at a wrecking yard about a month ago and tested it for about an hour and it worked fine. I just don't know how accurate it is over a period of days, weeks, months, etc. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet as my Z/28 has the gauge package where the clock goes. Maybe, I'll use it on a future project. I just couldn't let it go to the "crusher".

I was just reading the June 1968 issue of Chevrolet Service News and found an article in it related to the 1968 Camaro console mounted clock that I thought I would post for the CRG since it relates to this thread. Here's what it says:
1968 Camaro Console Mounted Clock Removal
The following procedure covers removal of the 1968 Camaro Console Mounted Clock (RPO U35). This procedure is being published for the first time.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove shift quadrant plate.
3. Remove screws indicated in Figure 6. Separate top half of console. Disconnect electrical connectors from rear of clock.
4. Lift top half of console until it clears shift lever. From underside, remove clock mounting screws. Remove clock.
5. To install, reverse steps 1-4.
I just thought I would post this info as it doesn't appear in any of the 1968 Chevrolet factory repair manuals. :)

FYI:
The part number for a 68 console clock would be 3921410.
$200 may not be a bad price. The list price for a replacement was $32.30 in the early 70s.
I'd say Paul made a good save from the "crusher".

Thanks Phil. I was able to "save" the complete console too! It's in beautiful shape except for a small fracture on the top half of the console between the console door and rear ashtray lid (that's where they all crack - :( ).

i love the counsel clock, i had a 68 hp 327 car with a counsel clock, and thus no tach or gauges, neat car 4 speed muncie and a 12 bolt posi, wish i had that car back it was fun. also goes to prove you could get strange packages back then.

"Choices"; i.e., options were part of the appeal in those days. It was certainly part of the sales pitch --wide variety of motors and options. Wish that were "truer" nowadays.
