No, ALL 1969 Camaros came with either the Air Injection Reactor (smog pump) or the Controlled Combustion System (CCS).

More info HERE (http://www.camaros.org/emissions.shtml).

Automatic  350 car would not have smog.
AC= air conditioning...usually?

ALL 1969 Camaros had smog equipment. It just depends on the engine/transmission combination as to what KIND of smog setup they had. Either AIR or CCS as shown in the link I posted above.

Small-block automatics had the CCS system; manual trans had the AIR pump.

All big blocks had the AIR pump.

A/C was not a factor.

I have a 1969 Pace Car built in Norwood OH, 396 CID 325 HP. It was shipped to a dealer in St Leonard, PQ Canada per a General Motors of Canada Limited info sheet. It has 4 plugs in each exhaust manifold anyone explain why. It does not look like it had any emission equipment on it.

In 1969, Canadian cars used the same emission controls as U.S. cars.  Someone removed the smog pump and related piping, then plugged the holes in the exhaust manifolds.  This was a common practice back in the day.

The car didn't leave Norwood without the smog equipment.

There are probably more cars out thee with the plugs in the manifolds than have the smog equipment. It got tossed by original owners pretty quickly. Some guys purchasing an original car would get lucky and the original owner may have just boxed it up.
Some of that original smog stuff sells for ridiculous money now, since it is scarce.

But, yes if you want the motor to appear original you would need to locate the smog. You can always remove the guts of the pump, and just have it for looks though ;)

Is 69 different than 68 in regards to smog equipment in Canada ? I know you could order smog delete in 68. A friend has a 68 L78 with 10K miles that shows smog delete on the paperwork and has the plugs in the manifolds.

My Z'd has the same KD1 smog exemption noted in the G M Vintage Services documentation that I have - but again it is a '68 model.
Anyone know if this KD1 RPO was carried over to cars delivered into Canada into the '69 model year at all?

KD1 (air injection reactor delete, export only) was only available in 1968.  It was not available in 1967 and 1969.

Guys! Read the link I posted above. It has EVERYTHING you'd ever want to know about smog on these cars. Kurt spent a LOT of time compiling this information. Make use of it!!!

My car is also a Canadian car and was sold by the dealer without the smog. Holes plugged. Original owner, a woman, confirmed this.
