Title: Monza Red
Post by: Mohnf554 on September 16, 2017, 02:32:29 AM: Hi Everyone, I'm not sure if I'm posting this is the right section, but I own a 69 Camaro SS, all original parts in Monza Red. I have the original build sheet that says Monza Red on it and I just want to know how many were produced in this color if anyone has any insight on this. I know that it says on CRG that there was 1.5% made with Special Paint but I was trying to get a little more specific with the Monza red color. If anybody can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!

As you stated, we ESTIMATE special paint cars in 1969 was around 1.5 percent, but there's no way to know this for sure. This is all based on the number of cars we have in the database, divided by the number of known special paint cars.

There are no known production figures, even for RPO colors. Special paint can also indicate stripe delete or a non-standard stripe color. At the beginning of the 1969 model year black was an RPO color. It was soon dropped so some early black cars are special paint. It was brought back January 1969 as an extra-cost color; these cars are not special paint.

The only other Monza Red car I'm aware of was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson AZ 2013. It was a Z/28 with a Parchment vinyl roof and power windows.

Post by: firstgenaddict on October 13, 2017, 06:19:50 PM: I like Monza Red, it is brighter than Garnet... it was a Corvette Color for 69 as well as being the color used for RED striping.
