Looking at my car today, it seems that I remember the water temp gauge wire routing around the ex. manifold to be a bit different than what it is. This is an original 327/210 hp with A/C car. Anyone have a pic?

Mike,
First attachment is from the 1969 Camaro Factory Assembly Manual, Section UPC12, A7. It shows the routing for the wire from the temp sending unit. It is a single break out lead from the main engine wiring harness.
Second pic is from 2004 when I was finishing up the front sub-frame, engine & trans on my '69 RS. You can see the wire to the sending unit.

Thanks Richard. Problem is, with AC, the wire is danger close to the manifold 'cause the compressor tends to crowd it. Gonna hafta experiment a bit. Dunno, could be just 'cause I'm about blind as a bat, too!

Here's some shots of my 69 L48 with A/C. Should be similar.

That's exactly what I needed, John! MANY thanks!! ;)

FYI, they sell that asphalt wire loom now, a google search brings in a bunch of sellers :)

Thanks KevinW!

Got the chance to look closer at my harness yesterday, and re-routed the temp sender wire in the correct way. Apparently, I had it the way I did because the insulation is gone from the last 3"-4" of the wire. Did some checking, and found the insulation itself at HBC for reasonable $. I'll be ordering some shortly, although I'll be surprised if the new stuff matches the old stuff. Might possibly be re-insulating the whole wire, depending on the looks of the new insulation.
Thanks all! ;D

I seem to remember ordering some about ten years ago and it was pretty decent. You may have to disassemble the connector to slide it on though.
-
I think you can order that loom thru NAPA or you used to. Comes in a box with a roll about 20'. I wired alot of farm equipment with that loom.
-
The loom is slathered all over the 'net just like everything else. Just do a search. HBC most likely commands more coin than all others. NAPA offers a lot but they are the most expensive of all the jobbers with whom I have accounts. I rarely use them unless it is absolutely necessary.

Thanks. I realize that HBC is more $$, but I already have several things I want to get from them, so it won't be much difference.
