Title: 12 bolt Camaro rear, casting date question
Post by: 67jeffreyt on July 23, 2017, 07:59:44 PM
So I bought this 12 bolt rear cheap, and got home to check all numbers. Multi leaf spring mounts. Axle tube is code BL for a 68 3.07 open rear.  Ring and pinion are dated 67 correct 3.07 ratio.  But the carrier casting number looks like January of 67.  Is it normal to be cast that far in advance before being built? Or am I reading the cast date wrong? Would it be letter I- 28- 7, meaning September 28 1967?

It's I 26 7 (I as in Igloo) which would be September 26th, 1967. For "cast" parts, the letter I was used for September. (The letter I wasn't used for "stamped" parts.)

Ok thank you, I was thinking it was a one not an i. Guy threw in leaf springs and traction bars and complete brakes.  It came with a project 55 Chevy and he was installing a Ford 9 inch.
