Title: My X66
Post by: X66 on July 21, 2017, 03:07:53 AM
I bought my 69 in 1988 after saving up money to buy a hotrod. As I love Corvettes and all muscle cars I did not know what I was gonna buy but I knew I wanted something cool. There it was in a driveway with a big for sale sign on the back window. I took one look and knew it was mine. Well I bought it drove it for 2 years and had a blast. now its been sitting for the last 27 years and I need to get it back on the road. I have given it to my son and will be working on it soon. I will be posting pics and will have questions as I go along. As I have always gained knowledge and great info on this site I know you guys will help me when I have questions so thanks in advance for a great site. I will see if I can post pictures if not I will get my son to help.

Joe, great story. Your story is almost a carbon copy of my own Camaro experience. Congrats and welcome! Gotta see pictures, though, or it didn't happen!

It's a triple carbon copy, bought my first 69Z in '88 drove it my Jr. and Sr. high school years then parked it in my parents barn and finally after 25years had retrieved it before it disappeared , since almost everyone in the area who knew about it made my parents an offer to buy it. Hopefully great Father and Son projects for both of us!
My Son and I are just wrapping up a '68 SS convertible project and this site has saved us a lot of time and mistakes during the restoration . So have fun with your project!

I tried to send pics with no luck. I think I read I have to resize them. I am on an I pad so do I resize first or do I attach to the post and then resize? And as I don't know how to resize I will Google it and send pics as soon as I figure out how.

Are those cowl tag pics clear enough for a judgement call on whether or not original? I am no expert but it looks original to me.

Does this master cylinder and booster look original? It looks like it is from pics of other Camaros I've seen.

Gold with a black vinyl top will look great. Congrats. Does it have the original drive train? If it does, I have a couple of questions for you.

Unfortunately the original engine and trans were long gone when I got it. I am not sure if the rear end is original. I will send a pic as soon as I can and let you guys help me determine if you think the rear is original. Thanks
