I hope to attend this Saturday the 50th celebration of the first T/A at Pacific Raceways.
While I didn't race that weekend, I was there as a spectator.
This was the weekend that the famous Local Yuk button was born.
There is a a great story in the latest Sovren June 2017 quarterly mag including
a pic of Jerry Titus bumping into the back of the Russ Harness camaro that led to
Titus destroying his Mustang - he had to borrow the McComb Mustang for the race.
I will proudly wear a Local Yuk button if I can find one.

Maybe you can tape this to your chest, Robert.

Jim From Bremerton, YES, I will be taking in the scene Sat with Good weather on tap and a perfect way to start the long holiday weekend! Dusty in KENT! Looking for my Friend British Racing Green Z in the Car corral & Wondering if the Ron Tribble (SP) will be running the Yellow Car?

Jim,
Motorsportreg still has the entry list posted.
I see that Lance Smith has entered the first Hoffman 70 T/A camaro which I owned for a time
and raced in 3 1980 T/A races.
I will be hanging around in the paddock - Paul Haym has me as a crew member for
his BMW BS race car, not that I'm much help. ha ha. Paul also has a 510 race car.
My old racing buddy Gil Stuart will be there with his Volvo. Back in the day I raced my
67 camaro against Gil and his Javelin in Ontario club racing.

Jim,
Ron Tribble sold his yellow car. Whether the new owner will bring it up there, I don't know.

Can you guys give a little insight on the "Local Yuk" meaning?
-
Jerry was referring to the local amateur drivers who would show up to fill the grid,
and of course, get in his way.

Robert, I would really appreciate it if you come across a "Local Yuk" button grab one for me, and a program from the event. I will gladly pay all costs involved. I live in Canada, east of Toronto.
Have a great Canada Day weekend, and enjoy the event.

Here's a photo from the Sports Car Graphic Competition Year magazine, from 1968.
The photo is from the 1967 ARRC at Daytona, don't know the driver of the Mustang, but looks to have a Texas map on the tailight panel.

Had a great weekend tramping around the paddock and visiting, but very
tiring for this old local yuk.
Did get to meet Joe Conte (68 factory Javelin) - not sure who raced it after Penske/Donohue
in 70.
Also met Lance Smith with the first Hoffman 70 camaro.
Bob Morton (ex Ken Deckman camaro) had his own 68 camaro race car on display
and for sale for only $45 K - complete with twin GM 4 bl set-up. Bob has retired from racing.
