I posted this on the Yenko site also in hope that this problem will get better exposure. Thank you, Joe
I'm having Al Knoch redo my deluxe door panels for my 69 Camaro. My window wipers are too old & not pliable enough to reuse. The replacements I've seen, the "V" cross section is not a true "V". More like a check mark.
Is there a correct wiper for the deluxe door panel on the market?
Thank you, Joe

Sorry I just want to clarify. You're talking about the inner felt that goes on the door panel next to the door glass? I don't know much about 69's but I got and heard that re-pops is the only one that even gets close. They are not exact but NOS is the only option for that.
-
I have 2 NOS but they are hard as a rock. I'll look at the Re-pops.
Yes, these attach to the top of the door panel & run the entire length of the panel. The deluxe uses different from the standard interior. 1968 & 1969 are the same if deluxe interior...Thank you, Joe

Call Steve at Steve's Camaro. He's fun to talk to and will tell you the fuzzy story. He might have NOS, but all that is getting very $.
-
Joe, what's the part number on the NOS ones you have and/or need?
-
John
The original part was 7755881. That's what I have but they are hard & brittle...Joe

About 15 years ago I replaced the deluxe door panels on my 69. Unfortunately I used the original fuzzies which are now shot, so I need to do the job again with some NOS felts I've squirreled away. The original fuzzies guided me on where to drill the holes into the metal band of the new door panel.
I used a box of brad or small gauge finishing nails. Cutting both ends off, then bending them into the shape of a staple to fit the holes, pushing through the felt and door panel, then bending them on the back side to hold the inner felt into place. I was happy with the result, but this time I will look for a less shiny nail, maybe something in a dark brass. I would be happy to post a pic if someone with an original wants to provide a comparison of the appearance.

For anyone looking for a nice pair of 68 deluxe door panels.. I've heard the seller is an ok guy.

Joe, I thought I might have a set. I have a tube with 7729998 on it but there are 4 pieces (2 fuzzies and 2 V shaped scrapers with wide chrome) inside. I'm thinking I remember figuring they were for deluxe, which I don't have. I'm working on Identifying them...
-
Thanks for trying. We really can't buy & sell here anyways. I was hoping somebody had run into this problem & might have a solution. I don't want to risk spending large moneys for NOS if they're too hard. To be stapled back onto the door panel the felt has to lay almost completely flat.
I will call Steve's Camaro tomorrow & see what he has to say. Thank you, Joe

Buying and selling is OK, just do it through PM's

I just talked to Steve @ Steve's Camaro. Other than NOS, he says there are no others that are correct. Too bad I couldn't soften up the NOS one I have....Joe
-
Here is what I have. Think these are for deluxe?
My standard door panels don't have that wide chrome.
-
I wonder if there's any way to re-soften the rubber. For the price these things go for it might be worth looking into.
-
Can I please see a direct end view? These almost look like re-pops. Thank you, Joe
-
I really am not sure what they are since I have no package. They were stuffed in a tube labeled for and containing the outer fuzzies. 36 11/16"- long on the chrome.

What application are the outer fuzzies for?
-
7729998 69 Camaro outer door fuzzies. Probably 68 and firebird as well.
-
Deluxe or std?

Deluxe or std?
My parts book doesn't specify deluxe or standard for the outers. It only says 68-69. They look like the outer fuzzies on my 69 with a standard interior.
-
The outers are different on a 68 if it has style trim....Joe

Here is just one way to soften rubber that I found in Google search.
Rubber Softener
Spray the rubber with silicone spray. This spray can be found at any camping supply store. Spray until the rubber is soaked. Place the rubber inside an airtight, plastic bag. Use large garbage bags for big pieces of rubber.
Keep the rubber in the plastic bag for three to seven days.
Lift the bagged piece of rubber and bend it to check for pliability. Once the desired suppleness is attained, you can remove it from the bag for use. You might need to repeat this process if the rubber hasn't softened to the extent you desire.
-
That might be an idea. It's 120 degrees in my garage at the moment so nothing is getting done. Maybe a piece of pvc & a couple of caps would provide a tight seal....Joe
-
Camaro Central now carries them, I replaced them on my door panels and looked really close to NOS...part# WEA-987.
-
Do the pictures (on page 1)show the contrast between standard and deluxe interior? or are we not sure of the application?
I have a deluxe interior car now, and I can't tell what I am looking for here. thanks
-
I was told, (an old post I saw by JohnZ) that deluxe had flat chrome beads on felts on the door and standard had round chrome beads.
-
Austin, those pictures are of currently unverified parts.
I found them in the tube with my 69 outer fuzzies. I thought deluxe because they don't match my standard ones. But, the truth is, I have no idea what they are now.
-
gotcha. thanks for the reply
