Title: 1969 Z28 jack
Post by: cbgolz on June 01, 2017, 11:23:08 PM
Was the 1969 Z28 jack ratchet assembly tower originally silver or anodized gold?  I have seen them both ways.  Which is correct, or are both correct depending upon production plant, date, etc.?  Is there a particular paint I should use to replicate either or both of these colors?  Thanks for your help.

Is your car NOR- or LOS-assembled?

My car is a NOR X77 car.  Thanks.

Jerry MacNeish's book lists the jack mast as 'gold or silver cadium dichromate' but I'm not sure if there is a timeframe or assembly plant that could indicate one or the other as more likely for your car (as you're obviously already thinking).
Personally, I would go with replating the mast, paint will just not look correct IMO.
Hopefully someone with an original NOR car (mid-production or later, since yours has an X-code) can confirm if theirs is gold or silver.

I have a 08C (august of 69)norwood car, and the mast is gold-ish, with the jack mechanism grey.

sorry i do not have a great pic of it.

hope this helps  :)

I believe there was more than one supplier. I have seen both finishes. And to my knowledge there is nothing specific about the jack in a Z28.
