Title: Earliest April 3970010 Casting Dates
Post by: Daytona Z on June 01, 2017, 02:07:13 PM: Found another 010 block that appears to have been cast one day earlier than mine. Anyone seen an earlier 3070010 block than this?

Post by: x77-69z28 on June 02, 2017, 03:12:22 PM: It's been a while since I have seen my original 010 block. It is at my engine builder since he left New York for South Carolina almost 20 years ago! Long story! GreenNV, is there a vin on the side of this block? As I remember, my assembly date is V0424DZ. Vin clearly stamped on the side of the block.

Standard bore and in storage for 34 years.

Yup...definitely from the transition period where blocks were switched over from 618 castings to 010 blocks. Here's a 618 block cast one day earlier and stamped V0418DZ. The 010 block above is the earliest date I have seen. I'll post the VIN if we can read it.
