Anybody care to comment on the 1967 LA built Camaro that sold at Barrett Jackson for $69,000??
Lowest VIN known to exist with body number 1.

It is not the lowest VIN. Norwood #13 still exists with a body built May '66.

I saw it in person at BJ last weekend.....it is a pretty little "plain-jane" Camaro. 8) Loved the White with Red interior combo. I'm curious, what were the not quite correct issues?

Larry Christensen (sp?) mentioned to me last week that he used to own a 67 Camaro convertible, also body #1. Apparently, Fisher body numbering sequence was different for coupes vs convertibles. He doesn't recall what the VIN was, and he doesn't know where the car is now.
The car at B-J was freshly restored but pretty plain option-wise. Panel fit, esp the front fenders and hood, was way off. The rear wheelwells were pretty hacked up with daylight showing through large rectangular coutouts, weird. I remember being surprised at the finish in the trunk and on the underside. I don't recall if the car at auction had emblems but I remember them missing on the photos.
True fact: I was checking the Barrett-Jackson car out in the staging lanes and, after a heartfelt appeal from yours truly, the seller finally agreed to pull the "caution fan" decal off the radiator shroud.

I was there too. Was an average restoration. Nothing special. Lots of little things wrong with this car. Upper doors were painted in candy apple red paint instead of the correct red color.

I have pictures of the car with a black steering wheel and column and other pictures with a red wheel and column. Also have pictures of the car with no pin stripes. They must have painted the wheel and added the pin stripes before the the auction. Also the cheesy aftermarket hood insultation with incorrect clips just doesn't do the car justice.
As Jerry pointed out there are a lot of little things wrong with the car. I also heard the stamp on the pad wasn't quite correct so to speak.
Very poor and incorrect restoration for a somewhat rare Camaro. To bad.

I only saw it from the outside...didn't see it with the doors or hood open. It still looked pretty to me..but I didn't look that close.

...I was wondering the same about the interior. The photo's on the link Rick provided show the car with a black wheel and column (along with black seatbacks and door handle cups).
...I'm not 'picking' on the car, ...but these minor details do make you want to 'look twice'...

Well, considering what they had to work with (no engine, lots of body work), I'd say they didn't do that bad a job. This car was on ebay in Sept of '03. I never would have guessed it would have gone for $69K though.

I saw the car also. As I recall it was a LA car but had a restamped engine and they put a N on the engine vin stamping as if it was a Norwood car. I think it also had the traditional "Caution fan" sticker for that perfect restoration.

Update on # 13 from Norwood.... yes it still exists. It's Fisher body #46 from the pilot program which explains the may '66 build date. It's a convertible with deluxe interior.

And that is what I meant when I said the stamp wasn't correct.
Car needed to be done correctly.

With that low of a VIN, the body number of 001 and the work order of P001, it won't ever be proved but it iis most likely the first Camaro built in the Van Nuys plant. Cars are not necessarily coming down the assy line by order of VIN. CRG has no work order codes for August '66 that have earlier letters than P.

There's a car with serial #12 in a nat'l sale catelog right now, red conv. 350. Anyone know anything about it?
