I'm disassembling my 67 BB Camaro & noticed that the motor frame mounts are different heights - which they should be. The problem is that the passenger side mount is higher than the driver's side mount. My understanding is that the driver's side mount should be higher on first gens. The distance from the cross member to the bottom of the bolt hole is 1.75" on the driver's side and 2.00" on the passenger side. The mounts can't be reversed due to the small flange on the trailing edge. Has anyone run into this before - or is it just time to replace the motor mounts?

Here is a link that discusses the mounts and stands and provides measurements.....might help id what you have.

Bergy, I ran into the same issue recently.
The 68 Camaro subframe from a big block car that is under my son's LOS 1967 327 car has the same thing. Passenger side mount is taller.
Heater box also changed to big block type. Car hasn't been messed with since 1989, but who knows what happened before that. I haven't had time to dig deeper. But it is puzzling.

Do you have any pics looking downward at the mounts? I am curious on any markings on the mounts and bolts.
-
Let me see if these will attach. These are the ones I mentioned. Green paint obviously not original.
-
Those are the same mounts that were in my car. I removed & cleaned them today. The car has been in this configuration since at least the late 70s.
-
Interesting...
-
Bergy, are there any numbers on them?
-
no stamped numbers that I can see
-
did you notice if the right frame mount had the gas line clip on the back bolt. I didn't look at that the day Jay and I looked at your car
-
yes - gas clip on the rear bolt - you can see it in the first picture that I posted above.
-
Isn't the gas line clip actually above that?
-
Bryon, in post 4 your bottom picture, is that the driver's side mount or passenger?
-
Bottom pic is drivers side.
-
Bergy are the markings on your bolts the same as what I posted?
-
Bottom pic is drivers side.
Well, at least it's on the correct side then so not swapped side to side.
-
there were 2 different bolts in securing my frame mounts
-
I would say both original. One has same markings as what I posted.
I have not seen this before and so far can't find anyone else that has. But this had to have happened more than twice.

It doesn't look like your motor mounts would have moved the engine forward for additional firewall clearance, like the link posted above mentions. My first thought was to swap sides, but you mentioned that they wont swap due to a flange on the trailing edge. So, I would conclude that they are wrong for your car and replace them. Figure out what they are later on.
