We all know how hard it is to find good used parts for our cars? With almost 50 year old Camaros, things like nice door panels can be like the proverbial "Golden Chicken Lips" to find! So you can imagine how stoked I was to find this LH deluxe panel for next to nothing. It even has the cutout for the remote mirror, which is what my car has!
Couple of issues, minor, I feel, I would like help on. While the window crank hole is fine on the outer side, the back cardboard is ripped. What would be the best way to keep this from deteriorating worse?? My own idea was to take that dry wall mesh and either epoxy or JB Weld and apply across that back area. Thoughts?
Next. Looks like someone put a clear coat on the panel. While most is coming off with washing or using a fingernail, how is the best way to remove this? My thought is with oven cleaner? But I do not want to ruin this panel, so I am hesitant to do anything. It is hardly noticeable only in certain light.

Find the weakest solvent that will remove the coating. Test it in a hidden area first, like behind the door handle cup. Maybe start with mineral spirits or denatured alcohol and work your way 'up' from there. I've found that the vinyl that the door panels are made from is some pretty tough stuff. IIRC, I ended up having to use lacquer thinner to remove paint from a set of original deluxe panels.
To give them a fresh look, I recommend SEM Color Coat in Landau Black. Prep with SEM Soap, followed by Vinyl Prep, then use the Color Coat.

If you have any experience with gorilla glue. I might use the yellow mesh for drywall and very carefully spread some gorilla glue on it. As long you are careful the stuff works great. (I repaired a broken stud on a dash pad with it.)

Nice Find! I am holding on to some mint deluxe panels for my SS (PW and reg) :). As to the questions, the fiber board is very close to cardboard (wood), so I always thought a white, yellow or waterproof yellow would work well. I would expect you just have to glue the layers and clamp properly. A larger repair might take gluing the 1st layer 1st for a solid base, then gluing each layer, my .02 :) Luck!

Buddy of mine has been fixing up parts with fiberglass. Would that stick to the board?

I would pay real money to have my original red deluxe door panels back from the trash, but I have no one to blame but myself for throwing them out. One of the few things I didn't hoard when I bought the car in PA. Now I won't throw anything in the trash.
You've done a great job cleaning that up, looks very nice Bentley.
