Title: Cowl Markings
Post by: stovebolt on May 05, 2017, 01:03:34 PM
While cleaning my '68 L6 Sport Coupe I noticed the large TEL marking on the cowl as well as the A13 stamp just above and to the left. The exterior colour is Teal Blue so I'm guessing that this had to be noted on the cowl. Is this often seen, and for what purpose? Is the A13 a date code? My car is an 04A. Thanks, Joe.

I would say yes on the TEL written on the firewall being to note Teal exterior paint. It's not uncommon to see markings on the firewall.

A13 stamp is probably 13th week for that part being made/stamped.

Yes - RED on mine. Nice find. This is one of the reasons I didn't want to paint my firewall.
