I have recently acquired a 1967 RS/SS, 396/375 (one of 1138!). History shows shipped from Norwood to "Chevrolet engineering" in Detroit and not to a dealer. Anybody have any idea what the significance or what it means? Trying to get Michigan DMV records--but they only keep 10 years.

Sounds like you picked up a awesome 67 BB car. When you say "History shows", are you referring to some paperwork you got with the car? Or did you order a NCRS doc and it confirmed this? What other info did you get with the car?

First welcome. Second you can't just drop a "I have a 67 L78" and not post pics.. come on MAN!! As for the "history" of the car you may need to work backwards on the ownership trail. Usually (IIRC) once the engineering or promotional portion the car was used for; it was then issued to a dealer as a used vehicle. Others with a little more knowledge than I will post but but in the mean time post up pics of the trim tag, the car & the vin so we can help out as much as we can.

What was the shipping date?
Coupe or convertible?

There was an early build '67 Z-28 that was used by Chevrolet for the New York Auto Show which I believe was in February or March '67. NCRS doc says the car went to Chevrolet Engineering. Vince Piggins' notes say Central Office Show Program and also Company Car Garage.
