Title: Is this a Packard 56 series terminal?
Post by: 1967RS/SS on April 15, 2017, 08:00:14 PM
This was on the glove box light wire and I am looking to replace it.  Anyone know the type of terminal this is?  Thanks

It's called a fish hook terminal in the Delphi/Packard engineering handbook.  It's in the miscellaneous series and is not part of any family like Series 56 or 59, etc.

The part numbers for the terminals are 02962604 and 02989966, but they are long obsolete.  I'm sure somebody makes them for repop harnesses, but I don't know who.

Are you looking for one because the wire is cut on this one?  If so, you can open the one you have and re use it.  It's not easy but can be done.  You have to put the flat part in a vise so just the crimped end is out.  Then you need a pointed round tool to tap into the crimped hole with the wire to gently spread the crimp apart.  Then you can re crimp the wire back on.  I have done this on a lot of original connectors on my car as I couldn't find some of the needed ones as well.  It doesn't always work as sometime the metal is too old or something and it has broken off instead of bending open.  But, it has worked on a lot of them.

Thanks fo the help guys.  The terminal did break off a 2 year old American Autowire Factory Fit harness.  I called them, and was able to purchase a couple and repaired the glove box wire. Good as new. Thanks for all the help...
