Title: Palm Beach B-J Lot 644 '69 RG Z
Post by: z28z11 on April 09, 2017, 01:41:11 AM
Any one catch this particular car today ? I just happened to turn it on right at the start; the mid-auction talk up by Jerry really boosted the sale. Pretty car, too - very well presented. Wonder who was the lucky (past) owner ?

Regards,
Steve

Idk how many cars he "talked up" but I did see that and the HO COPO car he said had paperwork but he couldn't 100% confirm it was born with end but it was a legit MN and had a legit BE.

The Rallye Green Z/28 N642307 was auctioned twice [at least] prior to B-J FL. Sold for $110,000 at B-J FL 2010; $77,000 at B-J AZ 2014.

I would like to know why the orange COPO N649529 tanked myself. It was a very nice car and should have done much better. Saw it for the first time in 1982 at a Corvette show in IL. Was in the sale corral. Had a driver enamel dip at that time and I believe N66 wheels. But, otherwise looked to be original, not a former race car. Well-bought.

COPO is headed to Brownsville, KY but knowing the buyer it'll be resold soon..

Apparently a decked & restamped block didn't hurt the sell of this Z..

If I recall, it hung around 60K until they got Jerry to chime in (i should go back and look at the auction). I expected it to go a bit higher, but then again even digital TV is not as clear as being up close and in person.

Steve

So while the car was on the block, they started interviewing him about the car?
Interesting strategy.

Its kinda like tv adds 10 extra lbs..  In car terms its adds $10-20K...  Plus you have to consider the buyer consumption tax.  (http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/images/smilies/happy23.gif)

I just don't understand how you go to all that effort and expense on the Lemans Blue Z with cross ram and JL8 and screw up the rear stripes that bad!

Well one of my favorite phrases is "You don't know, what you you don't know"

He knew about cross rams, and the JL8 was optional, apparently. It is a popular factoid associated with the 69 Z/28.

I would say it is the equivalent of thinking the top motor in any mopar is the Hemi.
