Hi All,
I'm helping a friend with his 67 RS-SS convertible. The car is still apparently all numbers matching, and the block/cowl tag/Protect-o-plate match. The only thing I haven't been able to decode is the POP axle code "LJ1012G". "LJ" is not on any list I can find.
The car is an L48/4 speed/12 bolt, but I haven't been able to clean the axle tube yet to check the stamping.
Is this a typo? Should it be PJ perhaps?
Also, what's the proper nomenclature for a 67 Camaro with the 350SS option and RS package? If I had been at the dealership in '66, would the salesman have called this a 350SS, an SS-RS, etc? I always got the sense that GM hadn't really figured how to brand these cars until later in 68 or 69.
Thanks!

Take a clear pic of the axle code after you gently clean the area, then post a pic.
Also check the casting number and casting date.

The only thing I am coming up with so far - for that code - is for a 1970 GTO.
Technically I am not sure which is correct. I would say 1967 Camaro 350 RS/SS or 1967 Camaro SS350 with RS package.

Thank you - I won't be able to get back to the car for a few days, but here's a shot of the POP.
I found the same reference to GTO codes, but its a little odd that it would show up in '67. Also, for reference, the cowl tag build date is 10C.

Most likely a typo on the POP, but check the axle tube.

Also post pics of the rest of the car when you have a chance.

Yep, that's her! I really wish I had the money to buy it myself. Its not a perfect car but how often do you find one that hasn't been hacked on...
Anyway, here are the numbers.
Axle - PJ1012G E
Casting 389460
The code matches the POP except for the "LJ". I guess this is one instance of a factory typo?
Also if anyone would like me to document any details, please ask. I'd be more than happy to share.

Thanks. Yes typo on the POP. Unusual but not unheard of.
Pics if the engine and transmission stampings would be helpful.

Sure, no problem.
