Can you help with this pulley list?
Here is a list of first gen pulleys that we don't have the diameter (list is also on-site). The alternator pulleys don't always have numbers stamped on them so it would have to come from an known original part.
Diameter is simply the OD of the part. (Originally, they would have been measured over steel balls because you care where the belt sits, not the OD.) Sorry about the column alignment, took work to even get it this nice!
SB is small block, BB is big block, DG is deep groove.

I have a couple of those BB 69 pulleys on my original 396 Kurt. I'll try to grab some measurements for you tonight. My water pump pulley isn't on your list though. Do you want that? 3932402 UD

Do you want them measured with a tape, or with a calipers? So with a tape it might look like 6 3/4", but it might measure 6.80" with a calipers.
-
Calipers would be preferred and more accurate, but tape is fine.
Most pulleys already have a diameter noted - http://www.camaros.org/engine.shtml#PulleySpreadsheet. Just trying to complete the table. :)
Thanks!

1969433. I bought this NOS pulley for my 1968 L6 Sport Coupe. There are no markings on the pulley. The O.D. is 2.25".

Stovebolt,
That's one that I didn't think we would ever get the dimensions!
Paul & Stove,
Thanks!

I've measured my 69 Z power steering pulley at 5.75" I can't verify it's the part number you listed, but it should be. I've attached a pic. Does it look like the correct one?
-
Thanks, it looks correct.

Slowly knocking them off the list. Thanks!

I have several on the list but no time to get to them right now. I might have notes on some too. Will post when I have time.

Thanks guys! 7 down!

3863108 BB cast crank 67 is 6.735 or just .015 short of 6 3/4
-
3869978 triple groove cast pulley in the same as the 108 cast pulley 6.735 or .015 short of 6 3/4

Still need this one? 3947824 Water pump DG, BB 69
I've got one on my car, but I don't know how to measure it with everything in the way?
-
Thanks Kerry!
Jimmy, easiest for someone with the pulley to measure one. Measuring the circumference and dividing by pi has some error. :)
-
3876846 Water pump 68 ≈ 6.1 (≈ 6-1/8" with tape measure) code DJ
Note - I didn't measure this pulley myself. I gave this pulley to a friend a few months ago and he measured it for CRG. ;)

Hi Bentley - I'd go with your measurement (+ 1/16"). As per my note above, I didn't measure the pulley myself so I can't guarantee accuracy. ;)

Looks like somebody's got it covered.

Happy to help Kurt

3921923 about 2 lines past 6 3/4. Hope the helps. About the only pi I know is apple or cherry pie!

3744043 and 3755820 are both 6 3/4"
I think the stamped steel PS pulleys are all the same diameter.

You're missing the one I posted for 290.
-
The list of "the missing" is definitely getting shorter!
-
Thanks Martin. Yes, many of the pulleys are the same size.
You're missing the one I posted for 290.
You're missing what that list is of - the missing ones!

3890419 2 lines over 6 1/4. 3860457 one line under 5 3/4.

3890419 2 lines over 6 1/4. 3860457 one line under 5 3/4.
By any chance do you know what scale you used to measure? How many lines are between each inch mark?
So that it can further be pinpointed as to what "1line under...2lines over" can be determined, please?
-
If I measure with my Stanley tape measurer. If I say 3860457 it the one line before 5 3/4 I mean the next line mark before 5 3/4.
-
There is 8 line's to each 1/4. So that means 32 lines.
-
Yikes, take it down a notch guys. That was not necessary Bentley.
It's no problem, it's either 1/32 or 1/16. Sounds like 1/32 , so about 6.3 and 5.7.
Thanks!

3890419 2 lines over 6 1/4. 3860457 one line under 5 3/4.

Apologies. A little humor mixed with a splash of sarcasm and a heaping of frustration when I can't be understood. I was outta line and sincere apologies to members affected. I did learn a lot about humorous measurements though.
