Title: Anyone use reproduction quarter glass chrome?
Post by: Mike S on January 20, 2017, 02:08:20 PM
Of all the pieces of chrome I remembered to send out for re-chroming, I forgot the quarter glass chrome. I knew I made a boo-boo when I went to reinstall the glass and took it from storage. In an effort to keep the reassembly on track and not wait another 7 weeks, I was thinking of using reproductions. Has anyone purchased reproductions and if so, what brand and do they have the slight indent on the inside-top that would fit into the roof/convertible seal?

Thank You,
Mike

I have a couple of sets. They look identical. I'll take a pic when I get home of side by side with original one. Let me know if you want the other set?

I know that some do not have the same curve as the originals. I've sent door handles to Custom Chrome Plating and had them back in less than three weeks. He uses small jobs like that as fill-ins and they are done quickly.

More-1st pick is the part that faces outside, pic 2 is the interior side

Wow James.....those are excellent pictures. I looked my moldings crown and one is rounder like your OE piece and the other is slightly flatter, almost like the reproduction. I also checked the crown on the survivor coupe and they too vary in shape every so slightly.
I may go the reproduction route because both original pieces have rot clear through near the curved part of the base.

Do you know what the CHQ part number was? Usually they use the manufacturing vendors number.
I'm curious if they are OEM or Goodmark?

Thank you so much!
Mike
