I daily drive my 68 camaro. I am in need of a squirrel cage for the blower motor with AC. The center aluminum hub had come loose and was noisy. I replaced the motor, thinking it was the source of the noise. When I transferred the cage I found the center hub loose. So I peened it to tighten it. I must have gotten it out of balance. I really don't want to do the job again without all the correct parts.
I have not found a vendor with a blower cage for an AC car. Some vendors say the 67-81 non ac is the same as the 67-9 ac blower motor/ cage.
Can anyone confirm the difference in blower motors or squirrel cages between ac and non ac cars?
Can I use a motor/ squirrel cage from a different vehicle?

With ac original blower motor #4914916 fan #3144684. With out ac blower #4914901 fan# 3905776. GM later on superceded fan 3144684 to 3095776. Ac fan motors had a hole for cooling hose non ac cars did not have hole in motor. I would look for 64-71 Chevrolet for fan with ac. Hope this helps.

Man, you guys are on top of everything! :)

Thanks, awesome information.
Interesting the 684 fan for AC was replaced with the 776 fan originally meant for non AC cars.

When it comes to blower motors, GM made a one size fits all, or close to this statement. There are a bunch of GM cars from that era that have the same motor and I assume squirrel cage according to my Hollander interchange manual. PM me if you want one of these cages...pretty sure I have what you need.

Darn, didn't see that Paul. Thanks.

MILLIONS!! (If not hundreds of millions!) Go to THIS SITE (http://www.gmpartswiki.com/query) and put in 3144684 and you'll see all the cars and trucks it was used on!

FWIW, when I took mine apart to clean it up it had a metal clip or two on the hamster wheel blades, presumably to balance the thing, like balancing a wheel. This is a C60 A/C car.

Found a friend w a 70 vette fan, and another with a 67 chevelle fan. Both should be the same as my camaro with AC. Thanks guys for the information.
