Post by: Rich on January 12, 2007, 09:18:49 PM
Tying up the loose ends were agonizing for Kurt, :) but he completed and we have released the iniital release of a CRG Research Bulletin on the 1969 Z11 Pacers and Z10 Coupes.  See http://www.camaros.org/69pacer.shtml

Congratulations Kurt Sonen!

Several other new articles are in prep by Kurt, Jerry, John and others.

Another winner Rich. Kurt deserves a round of applause for the great job he did, especially noting the huge amount of work involved. I always look forward to another CRG article. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. It took a while to pull together, but it's nice to get some facts on those cars out there.

Now I just need to finish the seatbelt article!!

I need to review some docs to compare all the numbers again. It's been too long to remember much about all the #'s. But I'm busy with a few other things (house stuff, etc) so it will be a bit.

Actually, I have an update to the cooling article that's mostly done. It's the one that is the most in need of updating.

I'm working on brake and battery info and I've started redoing a couple sections of the site. Not enough hours in the day.... :)

Hello Kurt,

I enjoyed the 69 Pace Car article.  I attended the first Indianapolis Pace Car Reunion held May 19 - 21, 2006, during the 2nd time trials weekend.  I attend with a friend’s 69 Pace Car, who was not able to attend the event.  It was great event that drew Indy Pace Car owners from across the U.S.  The Indy museum also brought out of storage approx. 30 plus original Pace Cars, including the car that paced the first race.  It had to be towed from the museum to the display area, but it was there.   The show had a tremendous draw (natural during a 500 time trial weekend) that concluded with hundreds of Pace Cars taking a “slow” photo opportunity lap around the famed oval

I know the owner of the 69 Pace Car #1.  You may also know him; he is a well known Camaro restorer in many club circles.  You are welcome to reach me for his contact info in case you would like to do a feature on this car.  It was great to see his 69 Pace Car at the event.

I will attach a series of pictures showing the various features Chevrolet added/modified on the two actual pace cars, that you mentioned in your article.

69 Pace Car pic set #3.

Notice the picture of the additional rear spring supports.  These were added to keep the car rear end suspension from sagging under the weight of the all the people that would sit in and on the car during the winner victory lap.

Also, notice that the 67 style duel exhausts were used to make room for the flag polls.
