Title: Steering column date coding
Post by: x66 714 on November 09, 2016, 02:13:44 PM
I thought I saw something on steering column date codes. I've looked all over but can't seem to find it. How about a little help here please? Thank you, Joe

Not all are coded, but if yours is, the date code will be stamped on the lower portion of the column tube near the end by the floor. The format is Year, and Julian date (i.e. 9 123).

I took a look at my 67 05B (shipped to dealer May 17th) and can only see E2 stamped near the floor end. Could that be a date by chance?

Mike, I believe the 1967 and 1968 format is different than the 1969 format, and E2 would probably be the second week of May, or maybe even May 2nd. I just don't remember.

I'm starting to get to the age when I'm forgetting more than I'm remembering!!
