I know it's been talk here and there in many other topics. I'm looking for something for my early 69 RS, with 14x6 OEM wheels, with dog dish.
Maybe there's some new repro released in the last few years ? I know the Firestone Wide-oval repro are not appropriate as they represent the 70's model, but what about Goodyear ? I've read at many places that maybe some 69 late models we're equipped with Polyglas Wide Tread, but for my early model, what Goodyear model would be the closest one from the original tires ?
On many original pictures, we can see the Wide Tread GT with white letter, but could not find any in repro. The closest I found are the Speedway Wide Tread, but every Custom Wide Tread repro are Polyglas....

Have you tried www.kelseytire.com?
-
The surprising thing about vintage pictures is most tires on 69s are the thin white wall versions, not RWL :)
-
The thin white wall version ? With the dog dish cap ?
-
Here is a early built ( Sept. 68 ) but with 14 x 7.

Vince your going to make me feel like I missed out there! We're those the same trim rings as the rally wheels? That had to look neat
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, those Goodyear seems to be kept for the SS big block, Z28 and COPO, right ? Other smaller engine Camaro like 250, 307 and 350 had either Firestone or Uniroyal tires, some with white or red line.
-
My Z had Firestone. Looked like a wagon tire
-
Hi Bill I wish you could have got it when Mike was selling it. Far as the trim rings this is part of P06,not sure if there the same ring as rally wheel.
-
I think it is a county or two away from him will be interesting if it gets restored

Have you seen this discussion on the PL4 tire option: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=11448.0
Something to note if you are a focused on details and are going to use Polyglas tires: I put Polyglas F70-14 tires on my car because that is what my Dad put on it back in the day. However, the letters on the repro Polyglas tires are slightly different than my old 'real' Polyglas tires. Not the best picture, but you get the idea:

I don't mind much if there's a slight difference on the lettering. In the Chevrolet brochure, on some picture the Camaro is wearing Goodyear Wide Tread F70-14, not Wide Tread GT like many suggest...

Did they make 'wide tread GT's?? I think I recall the '70 yr 60 series Polyglas GT as being the 'first' GT Goodyear tire??? or is my memory failing me again? :)
-
Contact John Kelsey at Kelsey Tire and see if there is anything he can do for you. It is possible that he has the molds, but isn't making the tires you want due to limited demand. John is a really nice guy to deal with. PM me for his direct email address if you can't find it.

What would be the option code for the F70-14 Goodyear Wide Tread on an RS (not the Polyglass) ? PL5 ?
-
There was never a way to order a brand of tires.
PL5 is Tires, F70-14-4 PR white lettered
-
I know that PL5 was not a specific brand of tires, but what were the PL5 brand of tires used back then ? Firestone Wide Oval, Goodyears Wide Tread and maybe Uniroyal Tiger Paw ? Today only the Goodyear is being reproduce, as per original specification...no ?
