I think the color combination on this car (as it sits) is striking, but don't think I've ever seen an orange houndstooth interior in a white car... I doubt the interior is 'the factory one' for this car despite what the cowl plate says (seems to be an August '68 cowl plate) and an Aug '69 VIN... What do you fellas think? :)

All the 1969 Pace Cars were white with orange interiors.

No D80 on the trim tag in Aug. of 68 must be Aug. of 69
-
VIN and Trim Tag line up to Aug 69 build. Looks like tag says 08C which corresponds to the VIN. Remember Fisher started over on body numbers in Aug 69 even though Chevrolet's VIN's continued.

I can't see the link right now, but the 08C does line up with the VIN. My '69 08D is 124379N6747xx.

This car has been for sale for quite a while for the price hopefully everything is right. Darrell

The interior color orange houndstooth has me wondering. Was that interior color introduced for the pace car, since that was the pace car standard interior color? And if so, I assume it was not available prior to pace car production, ie, spring of 69?
-
OK... Yes, I forgot about the 'renewal of the BDY NBR' in Aug 1969, so I was wrong on that. :)
JDV69Z mentioned the timing of the Orange Interior... I think he's right on orange/yellow being later introductions, but based on corrections to my original statements... The VIN AND the cowl plate line up for Aug 1969, so there's nothing 'funny' about that.. :)
And as many have mentioned in response, White with orange interior WAS the color combos for the pace cars... (WHAT was I thinking when I did that post this morning?).. :) Maybe my brain quit working because I like the combo so much?? :) Would they take a 72/720 in trade?? :)
Different Question: Has anyone ever seen a Z28 with this combo before???? The ad says this is 'One of Three'.... Is this believable?? Provable??

Haven't seen one in person but RK motors in Charlotte, NC had one for sale awhile ago with an endura front bumper. Really nice looking car. I saved a bunch of pictures of it for my screen saver. ;D

I have never heard of any paperwork listing the number of option combinations. For my 69 L78 Automatic I searched to find if it was a rare combo with no luck. Same for how many RSZ28,s. Even PHS doc,s for my special paint GTO says only SPECIAL. I think a listing of only 1 of ? we know to exist would be more honest. The CRG data base is probably the best guess there is.

Just looked at CRG,s interior color section. It says 720 was only normally available with 72 Hugger Orange but limited examples in Tuxedo Black and Dover White have been observed.

I would think that the door grab handle & door latch handle "cover" should be orange & match the door panel??

Yes, they should.. as well as the 'welting' between the rear of the door and the rear side panels... those were some of the things that made me suspect it may have been a 'made up car'...??

Not sure I would like a black car with orange interior but white looks great even if wrong.

I'm a real fan of white exterior paint (being here in the sunny hot south), and I dislike black interiors for the same reason, so I'm really attracted to white classic cars with bright interiors.. :) (white Z28's are not often seen, but I'd love one with red comfort weave interior, or even this 720 interior)...
