Title: Best way to sell a project camaro
Post by: tonybowtie on September 05, 2016, 10:09:30 AM
I have a 67 SS 350 convertible 4speed with A/C. I have been working on this project for a couple of years but will not be able to finish it. All body and paint is done, engine, trans and rear rebuilt. Subframe, brakes and suspension all done. I've already bought most of the parts to complete. It just needs to finish being assembled. Question is how is best way to sell? As a whole car or part it out. I don't expect to get anywhere near the 30k I have invested but I don't want to give it to a salvage yard either. Thanks

Sounds like all the heavy lifting is done. Paint, body work and rebuilds are the most trying phases of a restoration. If you part it out all the desirable stuff will sell quickly and you may get stuck with the rest.

Moving projects can be a challenge; I'd have the body, frame and drive train assembled to simplify trailering it. Make a list of what is included and have it ready to go. Make sure the title is up to date.

A 4-speed A/C SS350 convert is a rare and desirable Camaro. With some patience and a good marketing effort you should be able to sell it intact.

I completely agree with Bill. It's a desirable car. Get it all assembled and ask a reasonable price for it. Remember as a seller, you can always negotiate down but not up.

Tell us more about it.

Personally, I would not purchase a project (or even a completed car), without seeing it and laying hands on it first...

How about some photos, full description, and location of where you are... maybe one of us will contact you (if close enough).. :)

Thank you all and especially William for your sage advice. I can easily install the engine and transmission and then make an effort to market with full description and lots of pics. The car is located in Mission Viejo, ca if anyone is interested in discussing. Does anyone know which classifieds would yield the best results? Thanks again.
