So I'm looking at a 68 Camaro rear spoiler #3916633 online for sale that's supposed to be original GM; How can I can I tell repro from authentic GM?

Guess you could run out to my place and look and take pics till your heart's content? Nothing but original stuff here. I have never looked at a repro, so I do not know or I would help otherwise.

I don't think repros have the AOS p/n on them do they?Here's a pic of my spoiler:

We made these at General Tire and Rubber back in the day. I'll have to look at the one I got from there to see if those parts numbers jive with yours (my old boss was kind enough to write me a scrap pass to get mine). It was a "short" spoiler, and I've since learned that my car would've had one (if it were a true D80 car) since it's an 02D build. But I've already got the "long" spoiler painted and mounted to appear "dealer installed"

Not exactly true. Both spoilers were used in production starting 01B, continuing at least through the end of February.
The full-width '69 rear spoiler entered production 01B as evidenced by the July '69 SS&DI road test of Olympic Gold Yenko N579281. It is pictured next to the Yenko Chev house race car N578713, also equipped with the '69 rear spoiler. The August '69 HP Cars road test of ZL1 #3 N608193 [02D] shows it was built with a '68 rear spoiler.
Z11 production at Norwood began 02D and I am not aware of any built with a '68 rear spoiler.
It's my understanding that rear spoilers were received at the plants painted and could not be returned as service parts. Existing stock at both plants had to be consumed in production.

Nope, spoilers were painted at the plant.
From http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml:
"spoilers were painted body color separate from the body, and were final-installed to the deck lid just prior to the repair booth."

I think the OER repros have the part # (3916633) on them as well. A GM spoiler has some other numbers, 40-2259-GB, which I think is the mold number ? Google that number and see what you find. Hopefully the repops don't have that too !

I'd say it's a winner ! They're quite wavy in the raw, right out of the box and require quite a bit of bodywork. Good price on that too....
