Title: 1968 RS/SS
Post by: JKZ27 on July 13, 2016, 03:42:16 AM
A friend was showing me this car over the weekend. Kind of interesting. Looks to have been an original big block though the engine doesn't appear original. Has it's original Muncie and a 67 12 bolt rear(clamped over multileafs).

Yes want to see more pics!!  Get a shot of the fuel line too as it comes up the subframe to the fuel pump too please.  Thanks for sharing!  Also would like to add the info to my list if this turns out to be a L78.  Surprised the seats look as nice as they do being a vert..

Edit:  BTW not a deal breaker but thats a sb radiator.

Its a Norwood 04A 714 Y2 (Butternut Yellow) tag. I'll wait to post VIN and tag pics until I get permission from the owner.

Darrell, you want any specific pics including the fuel line shot?

I would like to see a better pic of the engine pad. EG is a Chevelle L78 code but that's the oddest assembly code I have ever seen. 8 digits after the T ???

That's what I was thinking as well. I suspect its a stamping put there by a rebuilder. I'll try and post a better pic. Stupid camera battery died while I was there and had to resort to the phone camera. The casting number looks like it ends in 5272 from what I can see so far.

272 is correct block.

The 3955272 block was only used in 1969, but the EG code wasn't used that year, so either it's a restamp (which I suspect), or you got the casting number wrong.

Wrong rear axle hurts it. Some good things there though.

Finally got back to look at this again. The story on it is a 81 year old man recently purchased it to be a driver. It's in the process of being made road worthy now. The owner has little or no concern for what the car was or what it could be.
