Title: 1990 ZR-1 Speed and Endurance Record Run
Post by: 69Z28-RS on June 09, 2016, 02:08:53 PM
Watching the youtube video of the Corvette assembly ops made me wonder if anyone had ever put the video of the 1990 Corvette and ZR-1 Endurance and Speed Record run on youtube.. so I looked for and found it.  :)   If any of you aren't familiar with this, or maybe had seen the video at the Corvette Plant or NCM in the past..  Here's a chance to check it out again!~

When I first watched this video at the Corvette Plant in 1991/2, I knew I *had* to have a ZR-1.... :)  I've had 3 different 1990's and still own two of them, and it still thrills me to hear the LT5 rev to redline (very much like hearing the 302 rev in a 1st gen Z28!).. :)

Back in '05-07 timeframe when the ZR1 guys would come up to the museum they would come to the shop for a dyno day.  I have to agree that when you hear that LT5 rev to the moon is sounds great.  IIRC one was a silver Callaway twin turbo car.  Not sure if it was a ZR1 or not as Ive slept since then.  They averaged 350-400 to the tires which was very impressive for the early '90s.

Factory Rev Limit on the LT5 was set at 7072 rpm...

and when you are driving one....  that rpm just begs you to come get it! :)
